Roll'n Pin Homestyle Bakery & Cafe

This was my first trip to Roll’n Pin and it was a great experience!  Because of the wide selection of food on their buffet, I decided to go with that option for lunch. I had a hard time deciding which kind of homemade soup to try - vegetable, chicken noodle or broccoli cheese – but the broccoli cheese was a great choice. There was a variety of fresh fruit and veggies as well as cold cuts and cheeses at the buffet. The main course was chicken breast, cheesy hash browns, corn and mashed potatoes and gravy. It was a delicious, homestyle meal! Our table shared the delicious chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. The cake was very moist and would not disappoint any chocolate lover!

Rollin Pin. If that doesn’t say Mamma’s good cookin, I don’t know what does! Rollin Pin is a staple in Sioux Falls, it’s been around forever. It’s a cozy atmosphere...sort of feels like your Grandma’s kitchen. I ordered the Italian Omelet. It was HUGE. It came with Italian sausage, peppers, onions, mozzarella and cheese. It’s served with marinara sauce on top. I usually love salsa with my eggs, so I wasn’t so sure I wanted to mess with what I love...but the marinara was the perfect sauce to add to a very Italian tasting breakfast dish. The hash browns were perfectly brown and crispy, and they offer a sour dough toast side. I love sour dough, so I was pretty excited about that. I was also able to sample the chicken noodle soup and you can tell it’s home made…it was delicious, just like your Mom would make. Rollin Pin is a great alternative to the big chain breakfast restaurants around town. It’s local, it’s homey, and the food is GOOD.

Today we ate at the Roll’n Pin Restaurant on Russell Ave.  I’ve eaten at Roll’n Pin so many mornings for their fantastic breakfasts, but today I will review my lunch choice…the Jalapeno Jackburger.  I could have ordered any breakfast item, though, as they serve them anytime all day, as well as serving lunch/dinner items at breakfast time!  Whatever you want…whenever you want it!  Love the Roll’n Pin!  The Jalapeno Jackburger was awesome!  Topped with lots of spicy pepperjack cheese and jalapenos and cooked just right, this burger really hit the spot. It was served with a side of their hot and tasty French fries. If you like spicy, this is the perfect choice…anytime of the day!

It’s about time I got back to the Roll’n Pin! I remember being a regular as a kid growing up and this sure brought back memories. As soon as I entered the doors the buffet line was laid out right in front of me. I wasn’t quite in the mood for a belly busting lunch so I decided on a “lighter” choice of Chicken Parmesan. The lightly crusted chicken was very tender and went down with a childish smile on my face. The finishing touches came as the waitress served up the chocolate smothered lava cake with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Those two items were meant to be together, and I wouldn’t keep them apart.
